Volunteers from Engineers Without Borders (EWB) visited FFC’s Marie Curie Girls Science Club in July to run a prosthetics workshop. Based on work done by EWB in Cambodia for amputee victims of un-detonated mine explosions, the girls had to design, build and test a prosthetic leg capable of walking four metres with limited money and resources.
The three teams grappled with the engineering challenges of value-for-money, time constraints, comfort, strength and durability to produce some very different and innovative designs!
