After stringent quality checks and multi-level assessments conducted by the VCAA, the project submission by Footscray City College VCE student Jozef Beska, Systems Engineering student in 2015, has been accepted as one of the Top Designs 2016 for Victoria.
There were more than a thousand applicants, from which only 13 were chosen for Top Designs 2016, currently on exhibition in the Melbourne Museum complex. Jozef completed the Year 12 Systems Engineering course while he was in Year 11, last year.
Jozef’s Systems Engineering teacher Michael Antony said Jozef was a perfectionist in the design and construction of his project. All production work was completed and tested by Jozef in the college buildings and many after-school hours were spent on it. The project consists of a model plane with a 50-inch wing span, a foot pedal from a computer game console and the Yoke Control of a Cessna Plane. Lots of electronic components were added into the self-designed instrument panel and some high-level programming was done to simulate the real motions of an aeroplane. The system was designed for training student pilots by any flight teacher. Availability of CNC Mill, 3-D Printer, Laser Cutter and Sticker Maker in the college’s SciTech Centre assisted Jozef to complete the project in-situ.
Anyone visiting Top Designs 2016 is encouraged to have a look at the Footscray City College display.
